Whatever you need to know about wall clocks, you’re going to find it here.  A wall clock is generally considered to be an essential part of a home, whether it is a family home, a bachelor pad, a share house, a seniors’ unit, farm house, or any other kind of house in fact!  Nobody is immune to Old Man Time, and we all like to plan out our days for maximum efficiency, or maybe just for the purposes of deciding when to relax, water the plants, or maybe watch the evening news. So when yo choose a wall clock, you will probably have certain qualities in mind.  Some people are definitely after a large wall clock; the larger the better; this may be for visual reasons such as not being able to make our small numbers, it may be because you want to make a statement, it may be because you want to fill a patch of wall that otherwise is looking bare and lonely.  If you want a focal point or conversation piece, there are many large impressive or individual wall clocks to choose from.  They can be found in every style: modern, contemporary, traditional, country, minimalist, quirky/novelty, humorous, digital, and even cuckoo! Some of the most popular clocks, for obvious reasons, are large wall clocks.  When you think about it, this makes sense.  When I was a child I had many small clocks, because I was fascinated with them.  However, I had one large wall clock, and this was the best one for actually checking the time.  The numbers were large and easy to see and the clock had clean lines and no distractions from the actual time. The other most popular styles are outdoor clocks, travel clocks, kitchen clocks, cuckoo clocks, outdoor clocks, antique clocks and digital wall clocks.   We will be covering all of these clocks in this website, which as you can see, is all about wall clocks!  :) Reasons why you might want to have a large wall clock:

If you are looking for some landscape design ideas, look no further than the garden clock.  Sounds too simple?  Well, just think of how interesting you were of sundials and garden clocks in the past.  The idea of an outside clock can make people stand up straighter and take notice, because the normal place we expect to see clocks is inside – usually in the kitchen.  It’s a little more interesting, a little more offbeat to see a garden clock and that’s why garden clocks will make your garden stand out from the rest.

Some garden clocks are very elaborate.  Some people even go out of their way to create a garden that forms the clock face, as can be seen in some prestigious gardens around the world.  The flowers or hedges or foliage actually forms the shape of the clock and the numbers, and a huge powered dial moved around in the centre.  It is a piece of art to create something like this but may not even be hard, with an appropriate clock kit and the patience required to wait for garden plants and flowers to reach their potential and/or maturity, it is possible to have a wonderfully innovative living clock in your garden.

Of course not all people want to go this far and some will be going for other styles.  Garden clocks come in all shapes and sizes, after all, and you are going to love some of the sundials, terracotta clocks,. solar clocks, Kensington clocks, antique garden clocks, Italian garden clocks, stone clocks and other intrigues that can be found in the right places when you look.

If you’re after something unusual, chances are that you will find what you are looking for online.  Online stores include antique stores and garden centres these days, and because of huge warehousing capabilities that these companies have, they will be able to stock all manner of garden clocks from which you will surely find something to your liking.  Many small online stores can operate out of their own home businesses and provide a very unique selection, due to their low overheads and ability to refine their customer service for special customers like you who are looking for that something really unique and different.

If you are going to get a garden clock, one that will set off your entire garden space, make sure that you show it off to its highest potential.  Arrange the garden beds and pathways, rockpools or fountains, gazing balls or statues, and other garden elements that you have chosen in such a way to point to and highlight your special garden clock.  If you choose one that you really love, it will mean more to you than just a timepiece – it will set off your garden space and make it a place that you enjoy to just be in, whether using your lemon juicer to make cocktails for the summer party, or rugging up in woollies to play snowballs in the garden with your kids in the middle of the wintertime.

There are many reasons why people love retro wall clocks. I think for me it’s that they represent a simpler time – the 60’s, 70’ early 80’s…as a nation we probably worked harder (physically) but there were none of these worries about rising fuel costs, global warming…you get the idea! For me, and for many other people , the term retro wall clock brings up images of the all American diner. Lots of these now-retro clocks had graphics in the face of popular icons, and some had neon edging.

Because a lot of this memorabilia is so popular you will be extremely lucky indeed to get your hands on a genuine retro wall clock. Not impossible – but it will cost you. I recently watched a neon clock (apparently out of a milk bar in Arkansas somewhere) go for about $500US on Ebay. Not bad if you have one to sell!

For most people the best option is probably a replica though, because these are pretty cheap and still work perfectly well. Retro wall clocks can be found for sale on Ebay and Amazon just to mention a few, and depending on what you have to spend you can pick up a really cool centre piece for your house or flat. It’s hard to miss something like a neon wall clock, and your visitors are sure to comment on how striking it looks.

Lots of guys I know are working on remodelling their basements and shed into their little personal spaces (man caves!). How cool would that look ,you could set up your own little retro space where you and a buddy can go and have a drink, a chat, watch the game…
